Impounded unlicensed dogs or other animals may be recovered by the owner, upon proper identification, by payment of the license fee and impounding costs. If such dogs or other animals are not claimed within seven days after impoundment, they shall be disposed of in a humane manner as directed by the council.

The city may attempt to contact an animal shelter before disposing of the unlicensed dog or other animal and may dispose of the unlicensed dog or other animal by giving it to an animal shelter. [Ord. 553 § 2, 2017; Code 1975 § 3-2.0110.]
