There is created and established a tree board for the city of Ida Grove, which shall consist of up to five members, who shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. One of the five members shall be appointed chairman by the mayor, with the approval of the city council. Members of the board shall serve without compensation. The term of members of the tree board shall be three years, except that the term of two members appointed to the first board shall only be one year and the term of two members of the first board shall be for two years. In the event that a vacancy shall occur during the term of any member, his or her successor shall be appointed for the unexpired portion of the term. The superintendent of streets for the city of Ida Grove will serve as an ex-officio member of the tree board. [Ord. 434, 1993; Code 1975 § 6-2.0302.]
