Buildings, structures or land may be used only for the following purposes in the “MU” mixed-use district:

(1) Permitted Principal Uses. The following principal uses are permitted in the mixed-use district “MU”:

(a) Single-family dwellings.

(b) Two-family dwellings (duplexes).

(c) Three-family dwellings (triplexes).

(d) Multifamily dwellings (apartments).

(e) Any retail business or service business supplying commodities or performing any service customarily found in the business section of town.

(f) Apartments on the second story or higher of a commercial building.

(g) Boarding, lodging and rooming houses.

(h) Hospitals, sanatoriums, rest homes, nursing homes, or other similar uses.

(i) Private clubs, fraternities, or other similar uses.

(j) Home occupations.

(k) Churches.

(l) Schools and colleges.

(m) Public parks, playgrounds, or other public recreational uses.

(n) Publicly owned and operated buildings and uses.

(o) Accessory buildings and uses incidental to the principal use.

(2) Special Uses. The following special uses are permitted in the mixed-use district “MU” only in accordance with the provisions set forth hereinafter:

(a) Mortuaries.

(b) Public utility and service uses, substations, distribution centers, regulator stations, pumping stations, treatment plants, storage, equipment, buildings, garages, towers, or other similar public service uses.

(c) Lumber yard and building materials open storage.

(d) New farm implement, equipment open air display and storage.

(e) Open air auto sales display and storage.

(f) Accessory buildings incidental to the principal use not adjacent to the resident’s property so long as said buildings are used for purposes connected with the principal use of the residence, such as vehicle storage or general storage. Said use will be subject to such restrictions as the board of adjustment determines.
