It shall be unlawful for a person to use barbed wire to fence or enclose land within the city limits. Presently existing barbed wire fences that were legal under the prior barbed wire ordinance may remain so long as they are kept continuously in place. If any such fence is ever removed, it may not be later replaced. Persons may erect barbed wire fences on the perimeter of the city limits. However, if the adjoining land is ever annexed, so that the property is no longer on the city limits, the barbed wire fence will not be grandfathered and it must be removed.
