“Council” means the city council of the city of Ida Grove, Iowa.

“Discriminatory housing practice” means an act which is unlawful under IGCC 8.25.030 to 8.25.050.

“Dwelling” means any building, structure, or portion thereof which is occupied as, or designed or intended for occupancy as, a residence for one or more families, and any vacant land which is offered for sale or lease for the construction or location thereon of any such building, structure, or portion thereof.

“Family” shall include a single individual.

“Person” shall include one or more individuals, corporations, partnerships, associations, labor organizations, legal representatives, mutual companies, joint stock companies, trusts, unincorporated organizations, trustees, trustees in bankruptcy, receivers, and fiduciaries.

“Restrictive covenant” means any specification limiting the transfer, rental, or lease of any housing because of race, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry.

“To rent” shall include to lease, to sublease, to let and otherwise to grant for consideration the right to occupy the premises not owned by the occupant. [Code 1975 § 7-5.02.]
