Buildings, structures or land may be used only for the following purposes in the “S” suburban district:

(1) Permitted Principal Uses. The following principal uses are permitted in the “S” suburban district.

(a) Single-family dwellings.

(b) Agricultural farming, and the usual agricultural and farm buildings and structures, including the residences of the owners and their families or their tenants.

(c) Public parks and recreation areas, including golf courses, forest and conservation areas.

(d) Riding stables, kennels, dairy farms, poultry farms, or other livestock farms; provided, that buildings or structures in which animals are kept are at least 500 feet from any residential zoning districts.

(e) Publicly owned and operated buildings and uses.

(f) Churches, hospitals, schools and other similar semi-public uses.

(g) Railroad right-of-way, including a strip of land for tracks and accessory facilities for track operations only.

(h) Accessory buildings and uses customarily incidental to the principal use.

(2) Special Uses. The following special uses are permitted in the suburban district “S” only in accordance with the provisions set forth hereinafter:

(a) Mobile home park, as provided hereinafter.

(b) Radio and television tower and transmitter.

(c) Airport.

(d) Community sewage disposal facilities.

(e) Sanitary land fill conducted in a manner and method approved by the Iowa State Health Department.
