(1) Billing to residential, industrial and commercial customers for sewer usage shall be based upon the customer’s water usage of each billing period.

(2) Irrigation Meters.

(a) Any water and sewer customer may request a second water meter for irrigation use only. Water from this meter may be used only for irrigation. Water from this meter will not be allowed to flow, directly or indirectly, into the city sewer system. Usage on this irrigation meter will be billed, as a separate meter, for all water usage, including the minimum bill. Water for this meter will not be billed at the sewer rates.

(b) Customer is responsible for all costs related to the separate meter, including installation, repair, maintenance and removal. Prior to installation, the customer must obtain approval of the meter by the city. After installation, and prior to use, the customer must obtain approval of the installation by the city.

(c) At least five days prior to the start of any billing cycle, the customer may notify the city that it is suspending use of the water from this meter, beginning with that billing cycle. Provided that no water is used for that meter, during that and subsequent billing cycles, there will be no billing for this meter, including no minimum bill and no turn-off fee. Customer is responsible to notify the city, at least five days prior to the start of any subsequent billing cycle, when the customer again desires to use water from this meter. Regular water rates will then apply until the customer again provides timely notice of cessation. If any water is used on this meter during a time when a customer has notified the city that no water will be used, the regular water rates will apply for all such months of use and a penalty of $50.00 will be applied.
