The driver of a vehicle merging from a private roadway, alley, driveway, or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto the sidewalk area and thereafter he shall proceed into the sidewalk area only when he can do so without danger to pedestrian traffic and he shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicular traffic on the street into which his vehicle is entering.
