(1) Quiet Zones. Whenever authorized signs are erected indicating a quiet zone, no persons operating a motor vehicle within any such zone shall sound the horn or other warning device of such vehicle except in an emergency.

(2) Jake Brakes Prohibited. All trucks being operated on any street or highway within the city limits may not use the engine back pressure braking systems commonly known as “jake brakes” and any such use shall be deemed a violation of this section.

(3) Any person violating subsections (1) or (2) of this section shall be guilty of a simple misdemeanor punishable for the first offense with a $50.00 fine plus surcharge and court costs. A second or subsequent offense shall constitute a simple misdemeanor and the sentence shall be left to the discretion of the court. [Ord. 477 § 1, 2000; Code 1975 § 2.1-2.0306.]
